Indefinite Leave to Remain is the legal status granted by UKBA (UNITED KINGDOM BORDER AGENCY) to a person who is not yet a citizen. Indefinite leave to remain is granted to foreign citizens after a specified period spent within the UK. Indefinite leave to remain can be achieved by meeting the criteria of the immigration rules in certain specified categories or outside of the immigration rules in specified and clear circumstances.
